Hazardous Wind Messages [Event #2] – Hurricane Network

800 PM EST THU MAR 1 2018

Hazardous Wind Warning 3 for hazardous wind gusts is now in effect.
Hazardous Wind Advisory 4 for hazardous wind gusts is now in effect.

Hazardous Wind Warning 3 is in effect for: 

* East Hampton, New York to Merrimack River, Massachusetts

Hazardous Wind Advisory 4 is in effect for: 

* Fenwick Island, Delaware to Montauk Point, New York

There is a high likelihood areas inland 10 miles from the coast will
see hazardous winds located near these breakpoints. 

* SUMMARY: A very strong coastal storm is expected to pass and stall 
  near the region on Friday bringing hazardous winds across much of 
  the Northeastern United States of 70 mph or greater.

* WINDS: In the warning area, sustained winds of 40 to 50 mph with 
  gusts from 75 to 80 mph expected within the next 24 hours. In the 
  advisory area, sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts from 60 
  to 70 mph, locally higher gusts possible on Long Island, New York. 

* OTHER IMPACTS: A significant impact relating to this event is the 
  potential to life-threatening coastal flooding across much of New 
  England on Friday through Saturday morning high tide cycles. 
  Recent assessment calls for areas to reach major coastal flooding 
  with severe damage to coastal communities. Interests on the New 
  England coast should monitor the latest information from local 
  emergency management and local media on possible evacuations. For 
  more information related to surge, consult your local National 
  Weather Service office in New York, Boston, and Gray. Otherwise, 
  this system could produce heavy rainfall and heavy inland 

* Take immediate action to prepare for widespread power outages. 

* Move all outdoor objects including holiday decorations indoors, 
  these could be used a projectiles and could damage property or 
  cause an injury. 

* Do not go near downed utility wires and watch for downed trees and 

* Listen for possible warnings from your National Weather Service 
  Office and local media.
