SUMMARY AND IMPACTS
-------------------
* SUMMARY: A rapidly intensifying coastal system off-shore is
continuing to produce hazardous winds across the region. Near-
hurricane-force wind gusts are occurring in New England. The worst
of the wind is about to begin for the area.

* WINDS: In the warning area, sustained winds of 40 to 50 mph with
wind gusts up to 75 mph are occurring. In the advisory area,
sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph with wind gusts up to 60 to 70 mph
with locally higher gusts are occurring.

* OTHER IMPACTS: Major to life-threatening storm surge is underway
across most of New England with total water rise of 15 to 16 feet
during high tide. This is a life-threatening situation! If you
have not evacuated, move to the highest level of your building.
Severe damage to buildings are possible across the coast line.
Interests on the New England coast should monitor the latest
information from local emergency management and local media on
possible evacuations. For more information related to surge,
consult your local National Weather Service office in New York,
Boston, and Gray. Otherwise, this system could produce heavy
  rainfall and heavy inland snowfall.

RECOMMENDED ACTIONS
-------------------
* Hazardous winds are occurring, do not venture outside until the
  dangerous impacts subside.

* Do not go near downed utility wires and watch for downed trees and
  limbs.

* Listen for possible warnings from your National Weather Service
  Office and local media.
