Eastern Coastal Storm: Hazardous Wind Messages – Hurricane Network

Hazardous Wind Warning 1 for hazardous wind gusts is now in effect.
Hazardous Wind Watch 2 for hazardous wind gusts is now in effect.

Hazardous Wind Warning 1 is in effect for: 

* Cape Cod 
* Martha's Vineyard
* Nantucket

Hazardous Wind Watch 2 is in effect for: 

* Northeastern Maine

* SUMMARY: A powerful mid-latitude cyclone is forming near the 
  Florida coast and is expected to undergo rapid intensification 
  with extreme pressure changes in 24 hours. Hazardous wind gusts 
  are forecast for the areas outlined within the next 48 hours. 

* WINDS: In the warning area, wind gusts of 75 mph are expected 
  within 36 hours. In the watch area, wind gusts of 70 to 75 mph are 

* OTHER IMPACTS: Additional hazardous weather pertaining to this 
  storm includes heavy snow, coastal flooding, and blizzard 
  conditions. Interests in the affected area, refer to your local 
  National Weather Service office for storm specific information for 
  your area. 

* Prepare for power outages now. Stock up on necessary supplies to 
  last for several days without power in the extreme cold. A list of 
  supplies can be found on or

* Move all outdoor objects including holiday decorations indoors, 
  these could be used a projectiles and could damage property or 
  cause an injury. 

* Listen for possible warnings from your National Weather Service
  Office and local media.
