Overview of Our Weather Situation Through Tomorrow – Gulf Coast Storm Center

Here is an overview of the weather situation going through tomorrow:

  • A Winter Weather Advisory is still in effect for Northeast Louisiana, Central Mississippi and parts of North Mississippi from midnight tonight through tomorrow morning, and parts of Central Alabama from 3 AM CST tonight through tomorrow evening. A mix of freezing rain/drizzle and some sleet will occur, leading to some light ice accumulation (less than 0.10″) on roadways — mainly bridges and overpasses. Some impacts to travel are possible, but overall impacts won’t be significant.
  • Spotty light rain will continue across Louisiana tonight through tomorrow morning. There will also be some rain across South Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle tomorrow morning and into late tomorrow afternoon. However, it should clear out by tomorrow evening.
  • Brutally cold air arrives tomorrow, marking the start of an extended period of dangerous, frigid temperatures. Temperatures will top out in the lower 30s to lower to mid 50s. By midnight tomorrow night, wind chill values (“feels like temperature”) will be in the teens and twenties, with actual temperatures in lower 20s to mid to upper 30s.
  • A hard freeze watch is in effect for most of the area (with the exception of South/Coastal Texas) tomorrow night. Temperatures will nose dive into the teens and twenties overnight tomorrow.
